How to get involved

Funds in Court [FIC] is committed to improving the lives of beneficiaries and their families.

The SMO also manages Special events.

Beneficiary Focus Group

The Beneficiary Focus Group is made up of about 15 beneficiaries, who present ideas and offer feedback on FIC services and projects.

In 2009–10, the group was instrumental in the development of the Understanding your Funds in Court DVD, which was produced to help explain the complex legal and financial information in a format that is easier to understand. Members of the group also participated in testing and assessing this website.

This year, FIC is looking at holding an information session on disability rights and starting a writing group – both ideas that came from this group.

The Beneficiary Focus Group meets once a year.

All beneficiaries are welcome to join the group. If you would like information about attending, please email fic@supremecourt.vic.gov.au or fill out our Feedback form.

  • selected senior FIC staff
  • representatives of:
    • beneficiaries
    • the Law Institute of Victoria

Special Events

Four Seasons in One Day

FIC held a special event in December 2010 to recognise the talent and ability of our beneficiaries’ and to celebrate their achievements. Called ‘Four Seasons in One Day’, the event provided a showcase program of arts, craft, singing and music.

More than 20 beneficiaries provided artworks or performed on the night, and were all awarded with a Certificate of Participation.

Feedback was extremely positive and the next event is scheduled to take place in October 2012. More information will be available closer to the date.
